In the tumultuous lockdown of 2020, during a tête-à-tête between a mother-daughter duo, a mutual desire to create a deeper impact on our country’s craftsmen was expressed. And thus, House of Chikankari was born - to ensure the talent and expertise of Indian artisans, the heritage and the craftsmanship is cherished by all.
A textile connoisseur, our co-founder Poonam Rawal has been designing ethnic wear for herself and her loved ones for a long time. Her closet is flooded with intricately hand-embroidered Chikankari outfits and this obsession naturally trickled down to her daughter, Aakriti Rawal. Clearly, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Envisioning to organise a previously unorganised industry, House of Chikankari provides an assurance of authenticity of the handmade craft of Chikankari and guaranteed quality.
Our vision is to re-instill the pride of artisans in their exquisite craftsmanship and sustain it to provide economic and social empowerment to artisans' households.
